GRADING
SYSTEM
EIGHT-STEP GRADING PROCESS
Registration
As soon as a diamond is submittedto our laboratory, it is weighed andmeasured, and then assigned withan identification number.
Clarity Grading
The diamond is analyzed at 10X magnificationby a minimum of three gemologists todetermine its clarity grade based on thenumber, type, position and size of the claritycharacteristics displayed on the stone.
Identification
Each diamond is scanned by DiamondSure™and, when necessary, by DiamondView™machines which confirm that the diamondis in fact an authentic, natural diamond.
Color Grading
Each diamond’s color is graded by at leastthree gemologists in a controlled environment. The color grade is based on a scale of D (colorless) to Z (light amounts of color).
Weighing and Measuring
The diamond is then weighed and measuredtwice more with our state of the artmeasurement equipment.
Certificate Issuance
After the grading process is completed, your diamond reaches our documentation station, where we print a Diamond Grading certificate or Diamond Précis indicating all grading results.
Cut Grading
The measurements taken by the measurementdevices, along with a visual assessment of thediamond’s girdle and culet sizes, are used tocalculate the diamond’s cut grade
Laser Inscription
Only after the first seven steps of the grading process have been completed is the diamond sent for laser inscription.
